Originally installed in 1898 at Washington Hebrew Congregation in Washington, D.C., this 12-foot stained-glass Star of David window was removed and preserved by Washington Art Glass in 1996.
More than two decades later, our team restored the window for its new home at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park in Clarksburg, Maryland. Approximately 25% of the original glass required replacement, with historic glass from our studio’s own collection used whenever possible to closely match the original materials.
The restored window was reinstalled in a custom aluminum framework and unveiled in 2022, preserving an important piece of history for future generations.
For Washington Art Glass, the project was especially meaningful — spanning multiple generations of the Boertlein family from preservation through final restoration.
